Together For Our Future
Our role as market leader motivates us to take part in the global battle against climate change and contribute to a respectful economic development. We help our customers and communities face their biggest challenges, making the world more sustainable.
Together For Our FutureSustainability has been a topic close to the hearts of the Schréder family shareholders for generations and is strongly anchored in our company’s mission statement. | |
The project is structured around three axes encompassing the relevant and prioritised SDGs and targets:

Sustainability in 2023 at a glance
*2019 is the baseline year for our Science-Based Targets setting, which is why we report on performance compared to that year.
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals
At Schréder, we are strong supporters of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the action-based nature of these goals align with our own values.
We have identified ten SDGs that we contribute to the most through our own operations and our work for towns and cities worldwide. They form the framework of our sustainability strategy to build a positive future for all.
Sustainability in our everyday business
Sustainability is embedded into our strategy, structure, processes and culture. Working this way is the only way forward for truly positive and lasting benefits.
Training and education
We have always invested in the necessary tools, training and support to enable employees to develop their skills and successfully adopt new technologies in the lighting industry. Every year, our internal training academy - SKILL - welcomes employees from across the globe and organises e-learning courses.
As we believe it is important to never stop learning, our local entities like BEKA Schréder in South Africa, regularly sponsor higher education and provide work placement for young adults.
Occupational health and safety
Our people are our greatest asset. We are committed to providing a safe working environment that ensures the health and well-being of all our employees. We are continually evaluating and implementing new measures to increase safety and achieve our goal of zero accidents.
As part of our “continuous improvement” approach, our manufacturing sites in Spain, Hungary, China, Australia and Ukraine are ISO 45001 certified. The certification in Portugal is ongoing.
Customer protection
Safety is key when Schréder engineers design new products. In addition to meeting the strict regulations for IEC 60598-1 certification and derived standards, each product must meet Schréder’s time-proven design standards.
Our processes ensure the safety of our employees, the people who install and service our products and the people who sit, walk, run, drive, practise sport or work under them.
