Smart standalone solar lighting solution ensures a safe and comfortable ambiance while preserving the environment
Weibertreu Castle stands above the town of Weinsberg, near Heilbronn in south-west Germany. Easily accessible on foot through vineyards from the Grasiger Hag car park below, if offers visitors splendid panoramic views stretching across the Neckar Valley and into the Swabian Forest.
Weinsberg Council decided to install lighting on the path so that residents and visitors could enjoy the scenery after dark. They wanted a sustainable lighting solution for this natural landscape without having to dig up land in and around the path. We had the perfect solution.
Smart standalone solar lighting solution for picturesque castle path
A total of 11 standalone solar luminaires have been installed along the picturesque path from Grasiger Hag car park to the castle. The luminaires are fitted with motion sensors to guarantee that the light is used rationally when it is needed. At dusk, the luminaires are dimmed to 30% of the normal lighting level. If movement is detected the lighting level increases to 100% to ensure maximum visibility and safety for people using the path.
Ensuring a sustainable and environmentally-friendly lighting solution
Particular attention was paid to protecting insects and reducing light pollution. We installed the IDA approved TECEO luminaire with solar panels and components from PHOTINUS Schréder to ensure an environmentally friendly solution that minimises energy consumption and will provide quality lighting for many years to come.
Installation on site was simple and efficient thanks to plug and play technology.

The council and local residents are extremely pleased with the new smart standalone solar lighting. The luminaires blend harmoniously into the landscape and provide the necessary lighting to ensure a safe and pleasant walk to the castle. The ease of installation on site and the sustainable impact, helping to reduce CO2 emissions, were particularly appreciated.

We are extremely satisfied with Schréder’s solar lighting solution. Even in the months with little sunshine, the system works perfectly. The smart control via motion sensors, the ease of installation and the CO2 savings were decisive advantages for us, especially in view of the difficult topographical situation, where laying underground cables would have been very complex and costly. We also appreciate the temperature-protected installation of the LiFePO4 battery in the foundation area and the large, easy-to-orientate photovoltaic module.

Thanks to the new smart solar lighting, visitors can enjoy a safe and relaxing stroll up to Weibertreu Castle after dark to take in the stunning views. The path is well lit so people have a clear view of what’s ahead and feel relaxed enough to take as long as they like. What better way to spend an evening!
